What is the effect of high speed on an object?

When an object moves very fast, it gains mass, but this effect is appreciable when the object moves at a speed very close to the speed of light, which is very very fast. In fact, the mass increases so much that it appears to be infinitely heavy. This is not observed in daily life but has been proven in the laboratory. Similarly, its length gets shortened when it moves with a very high speed.
