World Tolerance Day is observed on 16 November. In 1995 the United Nations Year of Tolerance was observed in which the UNESCO’s Member States adopted a Declaration of Principles on Tolerance on 16 November. Following this, in 1996 the United Nations proposed the observance of National Tolerance Day on this date to appreciate the rich variety of cultures in our world, our forms of expression and ways of being human.
