Where is the world’s highest cricket ground located?
Chail located 49 km from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, is the world’s highest cricket ground. It is said that Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala was incensed when Lord Kitchener refused him entry to Shimla. The Maharaja built his summer capital at Chail. The cricket loving Maharaja built a cricket ground in 1893 after levelling a hilltop. This cricket pitch is 2,444 metres above sea level, making it the world’s highest cricket ground.
