The scientists whom Einstein greatly admired

Albert Einstein used to keep portraits of three scientists: Isaac Newton, Michael Faraday and James Clerk Maxwell in his study.

Sir Isaac Newton was an English physicist, mathematician, and someone who is considered as one of the most influential scientists of all times. By way of the formulation of the laws of motion and universal gravitation, he became the key figure of the scientific revolution.

Michael Faraday was also an English scientist who contributed to the fields of electromagnetism and electrochemistry. His main discoveries included those of electromagnetic induction, diamagnetism and electrolysis.

James Clerk Maxwell was a Scottish mathematician and physicist. He contributed mainly to the fields of thermodynamics, kinetic theory of gases and electromagnetism. His most significant achievement had been to formulate a set of equations that describe electricity, magnetism and optics as the manifestation of the same phenomenon which is electromagnetic field.
