In 1983 World Cup, when Kapil Dev came to bat against Zimbabwe in the second round of the preliminary league matches, India was tottering at 7 runs for 4 wickets. He went on to score a scintillating 175 not out, but it could not be recorded due to a flash strike by the BBC. India badly needed to win the match, which was possible with his knock. He said after the match, ‘I was in a trance-like state when I began my innings. It was, however, one of those days when nothing could go wrong. I do not believe I will see another day like that in my career.’
